FM Band Selection

Detailed description
Can you add Band Selection to allow switching between Japan and US/Europe frequencies?

The data sheet states:

The TEA5761UK can be switched to the Japanese FM band or to the US and Europe FM
band. Setting bit BLIM to logic 0 the band range is 87.5 MHz to 108 MHz; setting bit
BLIM to logic 1 selects the Japanese band range of 76 MHz to 90 MHz.

Thanks,
Kenroy

Here we go! Just waiting for someone to test it in Japan.

I'm closing this feature request now. Feel free to re-open if
it doesn't work as expected.

I have compiled and uploaded a patched kernel for the N800 ITOS
2007 (rx-34-2.6.18):

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/download.php/2631/zImage

Flash with: flasher-3.0 -f -k zImage -R

However it won't show any difference with Nokia's FMRadio applet.
I'll add experimental FM band selection support in the next version
of pyFMRadio.
Then maybe somebody will be able to test it in Japan.

I have submitted a patch to the bugzilla report. Maybe somebody
will be able to test it.

You cannot look at the frequency range reported by the driver
to check if the patch works. The frequency range is hardcoded
into the driver code. :(

Thank you.
If possible, I will try to submit a patch there.
It should be possible to test such a patch by looking at the
frequency range the driver returns.

I opened Bugzilla #2249 https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2249
requesting this capability.

I haven't seen a way to switch the band in Nokia's driver code.
Nokia would have to add support for this in a future version
of the kernel driver. But since the device isn't sold in Japan,
I'm afread this won't happen.
But I'll take a look at the driver code again. Maybe I will be
able to provide some kernel patch.

Maybe you can open this feature request in Nokia's bugzilla?
