cx3110x master (ap) mode?

I have been deploying N810s as standalone, portable information access
points for mobile phones. Currently I use the bluetooth capabilities of
the N810 device, but now I would like to add wifi access as well.

I see in the cx3110x source code a "not yet" comment for using wifi
master (ap) mode on the N810. So, my questions: 

Is the master (ap) mode supported on the N810?

If master mode is not supported, is this a limitation of the firmware
(3836.arm)?

If master mode is not supported, will it be supported sometime soon? Or
should I abandon my hope of using the N810 in this manner?

Please excuse me if my post is not appropriate for this list -- I wanted
to reach the experts.
