Modest Architecture

Introduction

Modest is:

• An email client based on gtk+ and maemo/gtk+ technologies.
• Uses Tinymail framework
• Designed to provide ports for maemo and gnome reusing as much code as possible.
• Optimized for low memory and disk usage (due to being first designed for n800/n810 devices).
• From fremantle (modest 3.x+ releases) it tries to keep a UI really simple, while still being powerful enough to be compared with desktop counterparts.

Components description

• Modest runtime: modest conf, cache manager, stream cache, clipboard, ...
• Modest mail operations: mail operations, queue, send queues.
• Modest mime handling: processing and creation of mime parts and mime messages, formatter.
• Modest streams: handling of streams in Tinymail and Modest.
• Modest account management and extensible protocols: how account settings are stored and handled for managing tinymail accounts.
• Modest widgets: structure of widgets in modest.
• Modest platform: platform specific support (integration with osso, hildon banner and dialogs, etc).
• Modest toolkit: Modest 3.90.x/4.x toolkit refactor
• Modest windows and window manager: implementation of the windows and dialogs. And window management policies.
• Modest ui actions and dimming manager: dimming/hiding widgets manager.
• Modest addressbook integration: integration with platforms addressbook.
